With The Scheveningen Triangle the European Rib Rally Tour 2009 has come to an end. After an exciting 3 races where we visited Spain, Denmark and of course Scheveningen only one team can be the winner. This year team Roughneck has won the prestigious title. Roughneck was in first place when The Scheveningen Triangle kicked off. They had a small lead with 642 points and where closely followed by Derksen Infra with 621 points. Dersken Infra had a chance to win the title if they managed to win the rally two places before Roughneck. Unfortunately for them Derksen Infra did not manage to complete this very difficult task so Roughneck has been crowned to European Champions Rib Rally!

Team John Biesheuvel Watersports wins The Scheveningen Triangle!

On the 27th of September the time had finally come! Under the warm September sun the European Rib Rally Tour 2009 was concluded with The Scheveningen Triangle. On a calm North Sea the teams decided who earned the right to call themselves European Rib Rally Champions!
Thanks to the great weather and the kite festival which was held simultaneously at the Scheveningen beach there were a lot of spectators present. Everyone at the beach turned their heads and looked to the ocean when the first heat started. The roaring engines drew everybody’s attention when the teams flew towards the first buoy after a flying start. Straight from the start two teams took the lead. Team John Biesheuvel Watersports and Team Derksen Infra, both with 300hp at the back, flew off into the distance. After the first lap it became clear that these two teams were untouchable on the smooth waters of the North Sea. At a reasonable distance Roughneck and Roughsea were having a battle of their own. Roughneck took the lead right at the start but Roughsea stayed at their tail. In the final lap Roughsea managed to pass Roughneck and secure 3rd place.
In the 785 class there was a lot of battling going on. Since these boats are identical, all Ribeye 785S LE with a 250hp Yamaha outboard, this class is spectacular to watch. In the 785 class it is not so much the budget of the team that defines the outcome but the skill of the pilot. There were three teams in particular who were trying to take each other’s places in the ranking. Team Rib Rally DGS, HGVS-M&M Bouw and Team van der Valk all tried to get in 6th place in the overall class. Because of the smooth seas the Ribeye boats did not have a chance to get close to the first 5 teams. All these teams had 300hp or more at the back so at pure speed the Ribeye’s could not keep up with them. From the start of both races Team Rib Rally DGS took the lead in the 785 class. In both heats they did not make any mistakes and managed to get some distance between themselves and HVGS-M&M Bouw and Team van der Valk. The other two teams were very close to each other! HVGS-M&M Bouw took a small lead on van der Valk with a fast start. Team van der Valk kept pushing the boat to the limits in attempts to get closer to HVGS-M&M Bouw. However, HVGS-M&M Bouw is a very good team and was very well capable of fighting off Team van der Valk. With their hand at the throttle and a somewhat defensive line they managed to stay in front of Team van der Valk.
The final ranking in the Offshore Rib Rally 785 – The Scheveningen Triangle looked like this:

Team Rib Rally 2nd and 3rd at Belgian Offshore!

With an exiting race last Sunday, the Belgian OffShore Championship was held at Zeebrugge. A field of about 10 boats were attending the race track, which was set up between the piers of Blankenberg. A great rally, some sunken boats and true excitement amongst the racers, where in the end, the Dutch filled the podium…
The first race of the day for the boats was stopped halfway due to the fact that one of the participating powerboats was sinking! After hitting a wave too hard, a huge hole in the polyester was letting in enormous amounts of water, which filled up the boat fast. Luckily, the drivers were secured rapidly, and the boat was towed into the harbour of Blankenberg. However, the race could not be restarted, so only the second race was counted in the ranking.
And a tough second race it was! Real competition between some teams, where Team Derksen was the fastest by far, followed by a real one-to-one competition between Team Rib Rally DGS, and Team Rib Rally Van der Valk, where the latter forced it’s RIB into victory.
In the end, the following ranking applied for the RIB-class:
1st: Team Derksen Infra (NL)
2nd: Team Rib Rally - Van der Valk (NL)
3rd: Team Rib Rally - DGS (NL)
